I found this book to be a step up from precious ones and to be heading in a new fun direction. Totally ridiculous as always but enjoyable nonetheless.

Each story in this series is such a fun adventure. Never a dull moment with fast paced action, danger, mystery and humor!

I have listened to several of the books in this series, one after the other, and have been struck by the similarities between them, which gets rather tedious.
The basic concept of them all is an ancient artefact being sought by an evil entity and Maddock and his team (and a beautiful woman of course) have to reach it first to stop it being used for evil purposes. There are variations on this theme, but not significant ones.
The first book that I listened to was quite exciting with some good action passages, but by book 3 I found that I was having difficulty remembering which story I was listening to and got rather confused.
I can't blame the author for finding a good concept and re-using it, but for me there just wasn't enough difference between the books to keep me enthralled.

I read the first book in this series and really enjoyed it, so I then jumped to this one which is book 7. Not sure if I have missed out on the books in between or whether I was just not in an adventure mood, but I did not enjoy this book half as much as the first one. Clearly I am in the minority as all the other reviewers seem to have loved this one, but I found that I kept tuning out of the story and didn’t really care about what was happening, I also found the character Dima quite annoying. Maybe it was me, maybe it was the storyline, but the book really didn’t grab me. Disappointing.
