end of an era
as a brit I've found this series to be fascinating, growing up in 60/70s with cowboy films this story brought out the historian in me, to follow from start giving a quite refreshing honest look at both sides, the good and bad, but as in all war the civilians suffer most, especially mothers who never see thier sons again. the research must have been extensive for names of characters but also the places of small skirmishes otherwise lost to time.
an epic adventure set over 10 books, captivating as the Brannon family, 5 boys, a girl, and thier mother, spread across Central and Southern America through trials and tribulations.
narrated consistently throughout with great expression and voice characterization.
I hope there's time to read again one day.

Beautiful storyline, absorbing characters
The end of one of my favorite series of all time. A story that flows across the US with multiple storylines and absorbing characters. Sad to reach the end of the incredible series.

Classic series
Have just finished book 10 of this outstanding series and would recommend it to anyone who likes to get their teeth into a great story set in a significant and troubled period in American history. I’ll listen to this again.
