Summary

New adventures lie ahead as Anne Shirley packs her bags, waves good-bye to childhood, and heads for Redmond College. With old friend Prissy Grant waiting in the bustling city of Kingsport and frivolous new pal Philippa Gordon at her side, Anne tucks her memories of rural Avonlea away and discovers life on her own terms, filled with surprises...including a marriage proposal from the worst fellow imaginable, the sale of her very first story, and a tragedy that teaches her a painful lesson.

But tears turn to laughter when Anne and her friends move into an old cottage and an ornery black cat steals her heart. Little does Anne know that handsome Gilbert Blythe wants to win her heart, too. Suddenly, Anne must decide if she's ready for love.

Critic reviews

"The most moving and delightful child of fiction since the immortal Alice." (Mark Twain)
"Fifty years after her death, her work surfaces regularly in new guises....There's no cool modern cynicism here; these stories are decidedly old-fashioned and determinedly upbeat." ( Calgary Herald)

good narration

Lovely to hear what Anne gets up to next. Very well read, distinguishable voices for all the characters.

Anne of the island. Romance and School.

After I read Anne of Green Gables and Anne of Avonlea I decided to read on. So I started reading Anne of the island.

Anne goes to College. She and friends go and live in a dream house of Anne’s after living in a boring boarding school. She has a great time.

Gilbert proposes and she refuses. Gilbert and her imagined Ideal Man are nothing alike. Such romance and drama like this is great to listen. When you want to know what is going to happen and I walk to school, the faster I walk the more tension builds up.

Anne is an original unique girl. She expects everything to turn out how she imagines it. And then again she meets her handsome boy. Anne can finally feel like all of her dreams have come true.

Anne, Anne, Anne…. Why did your imagination lead you to this. Jealousy. What will she do? Will she be too jealous to say yes to such a Man?

I would like to say that you can’t read this book without reading the previous books first. I do recommend, as it is like being in an Imagined life of romance, drama, laughter and sadness. But as previously, Anne hasn’t changed a thing she still has many interesting problems and funny events.

I enjoy reading books through Audible and sometimes follow it throw on the kindle. I am going to keep on reading this way.
