About this listen

Unlike the rest of her family, Maggie Walsh has always done the right thing - that is until the day she leaves her husband and takes refuge with her friend Emily, a screenwriter in Los Angeles - a city where even the palm trees are skinny. Soon Maggie's doing all sorts of things she's never done before, such as wearing sunglasses in the shower and pitching scripts to studio executives - and meeting a mysterious man named Troy, who is so non-stick he's known as Human Teflon.©2003 Marian Keyes (P)2002 W F Howes Ltd Contemporary Contemporary Romance Fiction Genre Fiction Holidays Literary Fiction Literature & Fiction Romance Women's Fiction Comedy Funny Celebration Feel-Good Heartfelt Witty

I enjoyed the story about Maggie trying to find herself after a break up . I loved her way of thinking. eventhough her sister Helen just have the best sense of humor. she had me laughing out loud. My only complaint is the narrator could have been younger. Maggie is in her thirties but the narrator's voice made her sound much older.

Any additional comments?

Brought this as I was going to LA for a few weeks and thought it would be fun to listen to a story based in the city I was visiting. It was continually funny, thoughtful and showed the real differences between America and Ireland/Uk.... thank you for a great listen

Very funny LA observations...

I love Marian Keynes, and whilst Angel's isn't my favourite of her novels, I have a fondness for it. I loved Gerri Halligan's narration of Rachel's Holiday, but her terrible American accents (which sounded the same for every character) were really off putting.

The narrator is terrible at American accents.

Loved every moment especially with Mammie Walsh and her quirky meaningful wisdom! Can’t wait to read the next in the series!

Wonderful such warm and funny characters!

Loved the storyline and it’s the last book I’ve listened to in the Walsh family saga. So good!

A great story!

As with Marian Keyes' other books in the Walsh Family series, this story flows from simple to more complex as you continue listening, making it well worth it. There is humour and lightness here, as you would find in many 'chick lit' books, but it is well balanced with the depth and complexity that define people and their relationships. All in all, this was a lovely book and I greatly look forward to the next one in this series. The narration was also excellent and complemented the story perfectly.

An Enjoyable Listen
