About this listen

Love, like hell, is a four-letter word for Agatha . . .

No happily ever after for her! Recently married to neighbour James Lacey, Agatha quickly finds that love is not all it's cracked up to be - soon the newly-weds are living in separate cottages and accusing each other of infidelity. Then, after a fight down the local pub, James vanishes - a bloodstain the only clue to his fate. Naturally, Agatha is Suspect Number One. Determined to clear her name - and find her husband - Agatha begins her investigation and promptly discovers a murdered mistress . . .

Enjoyed listening to this story. Penelope Keith is excellent and makes me laugh out loud with her Gloucestershire accents

One of my favourites

The MC Beaton Books are great to listen to . The one I just listened to was from the Agatha Raisin range. I truly enjoyed listening to it. One thing about the audible books is that they also relax you which to me is a great help. I would recommend the audible books to people with sight problems or like me haven’t got the strength in my hand to hold a book, in fact to anybody really you feel more involved in the stories ...........

Excellent author

I wish M C. Beaton would change the description of Agatha Raisin to be Penelope Keith. It's Penelope Keith I see in my imagination throughout these gentle stories, and I'd love to see her playing the part. She 'makes' them.
Rather weak story plots but totally forgivable as a perfect way to escape what's going on in the world at the moment. (Covid-19)

Another bit of easy, fun listening.

Having read and love the first two books I was excited to read this but it just got a bit too much. So many suspects and one in particular I feel needed a bit more explanation than they got. Will give it another book to decide I reckon. Brilliantly narrated!

But too convoluted...

Great book well read only gripe is how many books in untill she stops going on about James! Other than that it’s another great listen

Love these books

Any additional comments?

Sorry for the bad review for this book. I have been listening to the previous one but couldn't edit my review for the previous one. Not to be able to edit ones reviews is extremely odd. So what I wanted to add is that not only Scrabble is missing in the previous one, but that also James's father is in one of the previous books mentioned as Harry, and in one other as Robert. I love the series but more consistency would be less frustrating!!!!

sorry for the bad review but I couldn't edit

Another powerful funny, fast-moving, and yet beautifully written story with incredible characters. This, together with the imagery in Beaton's novels, is unbeatable.

The energy in M.C. Beaton Agatha Raisin unrivalled

it is like a modern miss Marple. Very charming. I enjoyed every bit and didn't fast forward at all
I needed escapism and that's what it gave me.

absolutely lovely listen
