Summary
A Chance to Love Again
I wear a lot of labels these days: Single dad, ex-special forces, widower. I've survived war, loss, and a mountain of hardship. But I can't seem to pinpoint what keeps me up at night. Then I walked into the Moonlight Diner and met her.
Sarah and I instantly connected. She mended old wounds and awoke long-buried feelings. But scars from her past still haunt her. Just when I'm finally falling in love again, she's ripped away.
Can I conquer my demons to help Sarah face hers? Can I earn a second chance at love?

Finding himself...
I just loved Caleb as a character. I liked that the writer seemed to understand that not all Vets returning home suffer from PTSD but can still struggle with life after the military.
Sarah had her own painful back story and there coming together was truly beautiful.
Add in engaging friends and family, blackmail and loss and you have a cracking romance that I thoroughly recommend.

Single Dad, x-military, older man younger woman
This book has so many things going on, all of which make for a good story. Caleb has retired from the Army, he was in a special forces and now he is back trying to reconnect with his 17 year old son. His wife passed away 2 years prior and his son has been living with Caleb's sister. He is trying to deal with being back and all the emotions he has bottled up over the years.
Sarah is living with her brother and his family after a scandal happened to her when she was in college. She is working the night shift at a local diner and taking online courses to finish her degree. To say things are a struggle for Sarah is an understatement. Her sister-in-law has become more and more hateful to Sarah and she isn't quite sure why.
When Caleb comes into the diner one night and sees Sarah both of their worlds will never be the same.
This is a great story with lots of twists and turns to keep you guessing. The supporting characters are well explained in this book so you get a feel for all of the characters in this book. I loved how the story included everyone so you truly feel like you get to know the families and all the dynamics that are going on.
Juliana Solo and Daniel James Lewis did a good job. I sped up my speed to 1.25 and could have been at 1.5 to listen. It seemed as though they drug the words a little for me but overall I enjoyed listening to both narrators.

I received a code to listen and review and give my honest opinion. I loved this book, the story is good. Sarah's character could have had a little more backbone but she was young and had been beat down with life so it explained itself. I recommend this audiobook.

Broken widow searching for healing
This is an amazing story of two broken people who learn that they both need each other. Caleb and Sarah both have broken pasts. Caleb is a widower who lost his wife while he was on a military mission. Sarah was blackmailed when in college with photos and banished from her home town. Lacy Hart had an amazing book that hooked me from the beginning. Daniel Lewis has a very smooth and sultry voice.

Unexpected
Wow, this book was so not what I expected. I loved this book. The situations and premise were so different. The author created this entire world that drew me in from the first chapter. The narrators do a great job with the narration and make it so that you can’t help but keep listening until the end. The emotions are high. And they really come at you while listening to this book.

finding your perfect out of brokeness
Life is not perfect...especially not for retired special forces, widower & single dad, Caleb. He is still mourning the loss of his wife to a car accident two years ago, while trying to adjust to civilian life after 20 yrs in the Army. Not to mention that he's finding it hard to bond with his teenage son. Caleb is thankful for his older sister, Linda, who has been the best support for Caleb and son, Adam. He hates having to live with her but acknowledges that he can't get over whatever mental/emotional turmoil is preventing him from being 'normal'. On one particularly sleepless night, he decides to visit the local all night diner, Moonlight Diner. There he meets a Sarah, a pleasant and a tad quirky, waitress. Caleb feels comfortable with Sarah...something that hasn't happened in a while.
Sarah did not expect to still be living with family at 25yo but here she is, working at a diner for the past 4yrs, trying to finish her degree online and living with her brother and his family. She has been slowly recovering from depression that has plagued her for years, ever since a traumatic event in college. The tension between Sarah and her SIL is palpable, and she knows that her time with her family is coming to an end. Then she meets Caleb...the quiet single dad, who wakes something in her. The pair begin a tentative that morphs into more and we're rooting for an HEA...until someone blackmails Sarah, and her past comes back with a vengeance! Great book with an even better HEA! #AudiobookObsession!

Good Book
This is a good book, it's a sweet romance between Caleb and Sarah. This book also deals with some heavy hitting subjects like assault, extortion and a crappy sister in law. Caleb is learning how to deal with life after the death of his wife and also leaving the military. Sarah is learning to find her self again.
