Summary
In this brand-new thriller in the Sunday Times best-selling series, Lieutenant Eve Dallas races to untangle a twisted family history while a hostage's life hangs in the balance.
Say goodnight, baby darling.
Three young women have gone missing. They're all pretty, mid-'20s- someone clearly has a type. But no one links their disappearances until the first - Lauren Elder - is found lying peacefully on a bench in a children's playground. She is neatly dressed with a wide black velvet ribbon covering where her neck has been precisely slit. Her hands are folded over a childish sign on which is written in black crayon - 'BAD MOMMY'.
Lt Eve Dallas and her team are brought in to investigate Lauren's murder and uncover the links to the other two women. Can they find out enough about the missing women and unmask their captor before they kill again?

Fabulous
Another great story. I love Eve Dallas and Rourke, and all the other characters in these books.

Intense and Deep
A few reviewers have said that this is a dull uninteresting read. That’s really not true. Firstly this is the ‘In Death Series’! How could this ever be uninteresting?
Secondly, this is one of the more intricate stories. It’s not all dash and dare. It’s very, very methodical (& maybe why a few considered it dull), and the method was needed - the story spans 2 generations - a detailed investigation was required.
The upside to that is that all of our favourite characters make an appearance and add to the story! The final chapters involve a multi departmental convergence to seal the deal! At that point, the story is not necessarily fast, but absolutely furious! It’s an adrenaline rush.
Susan Ericksen is absolutely amazing with these characters - every single one of them! If this is your first In Death novel, stop! Don’t get this one. Start at the beginning. You owe it to yourself.

Another stunning mystery
These books always deliver and this one is no exception. An abandoned child, 3 kidnapped women, Madness? It is great that some of the characters missing from the last few make a reappearance and that some of the constant but more minor characters have more to do.

Not the best JD book but definitely enjoyable.
I enjoyed this book enormously saying that it wasn’t the best in death book I have ever read. I always read the book twice as I have a habit of rushing it the first time as I have looked forward to it so much. And always take in more detail second time around.

Best in a long time.
This book is the best in along time. The last 8 or 9 were quite meh as though the author wrote the books whilst thinking of something else. They books used to be an without for me but after the 4th just play book I left buying the ebook and/or the audiophile into there was an offer on, this book restored my faith in this series. The narrator does her usual excellent job and the series is back on autobuy.

In Death - reliable
I’ve listened to the whole series (twice) and continue to enjoy it. I can rely on the main characters to be slowly developed while maintaining their original natures. I also find the stories enjoyable even though it’s so often the rich who commit the crimes - who knew?! I’m looking forward to the next book which has already joined my pre purchases.

as always a fantastic book
the book was very good and I was vey surprised by who turned out to be the Killer.
I was touched by the scene with the first victim's co- habit.
As always, I am eagerly awaiting the next Eve Dallas/Rourke book.
