Most families have skeletons in their closets....

Moving back into her parents’ house with her teenage daughter had not been Georgia Thackery’s “Plan A”. But when she got a job at the local college, it seemed the sensible thing to do. So she settled in and began reconnecting with old friends. Including Sid.

Sid is the Thackery family’s skeleton. He’s lived in the house as long as Georgia can remember, although no one, including Sid, knows exactly where he came from and how he came to be a skeleton.

Sid walks, he talks, he makes bad jokes, he tries to keep Georgia’s dog from considering him a snack. And he manages to persuade Georgia to let him leave the house. But when she takes him to an anime convention - disguised as a skeleton, of course - he sees a woman who triggers memories of his past.

Now he is determined to find out how he died - with Georgia’s help. But their investigation may uncover a killer who’s still alive and well and bad to the bone....

I enjoyed this most unusual story. There are A lot of cosy mysteries featuring ghosts but I think this has to be the first talking, walking skeleton. I liked the skeleton and all the difficulties he faced, I think it was good that the author had to come with different and inventive ways for him to leave his hiding place, to help with the investigation, instead of just walking amongst humans. I also liked the rest of the characters and there different reactions to him or the way they treated him, it added fun and drama to the story. What I didn't like so much was all the talk about adjunct professor, I know it was her job and the reason she moved back home but being in the UK and having not gone to university it just didn't mean anything to me. The story starts in the middle of the story and then goes back to explain how Georgia and Sid found themselves in the predicament they were in, This was a bit confusing to begin with but the story soon catches up with its self. The story felt fairly long but I liked that they had to do there research to find the killer and it wasn't a simple and obvious killer. I would listen to another book in this series.
Georgia gets another feathering job and with her parents on sabbatical, Georgia and her daughter move into there house. The only problem is the house holds a secret that her daughter doesn't know about. A skeleton living in the attic. Sid has lived in the house ever since he followed Georgia home from the fair one day and has been her best friend ever since. When he talks her into taking him to a anime convention,the one time other than Halloween that people don't think it is strange for a person to be dressed as a skeleton, he spots a familiar face in the crowd. Curious how he remembers her Georgia and Sid set out to discover his past and maybe find his killer.
I liked the narrator. She did a good job of not only bringing Sid to life but the rest of the character too.
