Summary

The final battle has come.

Grinner and his conspiracy to overthrow Perennia have been defeated, but victory came at a high cost. The alliance suffered losses it could ill afford, for the true enemy still lies in Baresh, growing stronger with each day that passes.

Leading the combined armies of three kingdoms, Aaron and his companions march to the city, but even with such a force, even with the power of the Virtues, victory is anything but assured.

For when blades are drawn, when battle begins, the only certainty is blood.

Aaron knows this, just as he knows the terrible odds he faces. Yet, he is not alone. His allies march with him - creatures out of myth and legend, cut-throats and thieves, sailors and smugglers, and the mysterious Akalians who have finally chosen to step out of the shadows and into the light.

But the ancient mage has allies of his own, creatures endowed with speed and strength greater than any man, bereft of any human feeling, including pain. But there is strength in emotion, a power that even the thousand-year-old mage, even creatures out of legend, cannot stand against.

For with emotion comes valor and courage, honor and duty.

With emotion comes hope.

We Bleed

I started out by almost ditching this series as it was so slow, but decided to stay with it. I am, on the whole, glad I did as it turned out to be pretty good.

There is a lot happening in this last book and not all will last the distance. There will be happiness for some, sadness for others and a bond for those left standing that will stand the test of time.

This was a good ending to a series that grew as it progressed.

What an absolute amazing series of books, from the very first to the very end! well done to both the author and narrator. A bit gutted that its come to an end but would definitely recommend

Actually pretty good

I’ve really enjoyed this series. Although Jacob Peppers isn’t quite David Gemmel. He hasn’t written an engaging story with some decent characters. I really like the lead protagonist Arron and the princess although I think she could be a little stronger. The story moves fairly quickly with some good plot development. The ending could have been stronger but it was still decent. A little sad that the series is at an end.

Frustrating at times

The main character makes you want to slap him at times, but overall I enjoyed the series.
