A Powerful and Eye-Opening Listen
MashaAllah, I really enjoyed listening to this. It was a thoughtful and engaging blend of personal stories and insight into a reality that I, as a Black man, thought I understood - but nothing compares to hearing it authentically relayed by someone who’s actually lived it.
The book shines a light on the unique experiences Black women with afros navigate - from identity to perception, and everything in between.
It really made me reflect on how vital it is to build a positive connection with natural hair. Definitely a must-read for my daughter when she’s older iA - this book is a powerful foundation for young girls to grow up feeling confident, proud, and deeply informed about their hair.
