Summary

A Perception of Sin is a dark tale of forbidden sex, loneliness, and love. The story begins in modern-day London with a suicide bomb attack aboard an underground train. During the subsequent forensic investigation DNA taken from one of the adult victims is flagged up as a match to a Cold Case blood sample, dating back 25 years. The case is re-opened with chilling consequences.

Sin is what binds the characters and events together, as the story traverses the horrors of Bergen-Belsen, suicide and violent death alongside love, loyalty, and compassion, though it is never stated, assessed or judged.

That is left entirely to the listener to decide.

Loved the concept and the story

I particularly liked the straightforward telling of the stories and the way the picture developed through the characters lives and histories. Found the last few chapters a hard listen but it couldn’t have been anything different. I wasn’t even too bothered by the occasional shoddy editing- but seriously guys sort it out the author deserves better

A Rollercoaster Ride of Brilliance!

Would you consider the audio edition of A Perception of Sin to be better than the print version?

They both have merit in equal measure. In either format this book delivers a true sense of what humans are capable of.

The Liberation of Belson stands out for me, as a literary masterpiece bringing out the horror of the event so much so it has stayed with me for days.

Which scene did you most enjoy?

Melonie's story

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes, it takes it's time to gather momentum but after a certain point I couldn't stop listening.

HOOKED!

Where does A Perception of Sin rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

This was an unexpected find and maybe that's why I enjoyed it so much. Really different from the usual commercial stuff. The story is far from simplistic but completes in a deeply satisfying way, it grabbed me around the throat and wouldn't let go. I loved it.

What other book might you compare A Perception of Sin to, and why?

A mixture of Game of Thrones and the Martian in a crime setting

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes. After a couple of hours it takes an unexpected turn and I found myself completely absorbed.

Any additional comments?

Highly recommend!

Enthralling

What a true gem of a book I found here, by chance too, it appeared in a search that actually bore no relevance to the book however, the twists, turns and flow of this book kept me engaged and wanting to know more. I thoroughly enjoyed and would recommend it in a heartbeat.

A modern epic

Thoroughly enjoyed this book. Laughed, cried, winced and even shouted at the car stereo at one point. This beautifully woven handful of stories tell of sin, redemption and emotion. Great book to lose yourself in.
