About this listen

May 1912. After the previous year’s deadly heatwave, it’s been an uneventful spring in Littleton Cotterell. Though for Lady Hardcastle and her fiercely loyal lady’s maid Flo, at least there are the provincial delights of the village’s inaugural art exhibition—and bicycle race—to look forward to.

But at the exhibition opening, there’s a panicked shout of ‘Fire!’ In the confusion, the main attraction—an extremely expensive book—is stolen from under everyone’s nose, as is a valuable painting lent by Sir Hector Farley-Stroud. Then the race, which starts as a charming day out, ends in a shocking death. And to top it all off, the Farley-Strouds reveal they’re in debt and might lose their house.

The sleuthing duo soon find themselves torn between a murder investigation, an art theft mystery, and trying to help their pals. All with a suspicious figure from Flo’s past, a supercilious insurance investigator, and a pair of rather bizarre treasure hunters on the loose…

Hugely entertaining

The couple of Lady Hardcastle and Miss Armstrong are a delight. And narrated by Ms Elizabeth Knowlenden this is such a joy. I can listen to the audible over again. Such a treat. The story line and the dialogues written by T. E. Kinsey are clever and witty. Thank you both. Could we have another instalment soon. This series is precious. P. S. I really appreciate how the narration enhances the story after I recently listened to absolutely terrible one of a different author and series…..

Thank you T E Kinsey for another entertaining book

I admit that I’m a little addicted to this series and I had this book on preorder as I couldn’t wait for this new adventure.
I enjoyed listening to the story unfold, especially because the narrator is truly excellent, and I’m already looking forward to the next book.
I gave four stars because the format is becoming a little repetitive, and this time some of the characters were just ridiculous in my opinion.

A Fire at the Exhibition

This is a great murder mystery, with everything thrown in. I loved the way they take you through the crimes as they think they may have happened, until they find the right combinations. Read wonderfully again by Elizabeth Knowelden.

Loved it

I loved this 10th book in the series as much as the previous nine. Can’t wait for the next one to come out. The intervals between books without the company of Lady Hardcastle and Miss Florence Armstrong are sad times indeed! Bring on number 11!

Fabulous

Another fantastic adventure with Emily and Flo, There is not one thing to disappoint with this series except I never want the story to end. Elizabeth Knowelden is a Genius at bringing all the characters to life. Long may Emily and Flo's snooping/spying continue.
