About this listen
Sixteen years ago PI John Craine's wife, Stacy, was brutally murdered. Since then he has buried himself in work by day, and whisky by night. But one phone call changes everything. The mother of a missing young woman asks for his help, and Craine finds himself at the centre of a sinister web of corruption that leads back into the murky waters of the past...
©2011 Kevin Brooks (P)2011 W F Howes LtdThis is not my usual choice of audiobook but I’ve given it four stars as it is a page turner and the villain is so rotten you want to see him caught .The final chapters culminate in long stretches of descriptive violence . The ending was satisfactory though not really complete.
If thats what you want then this book fits the bill . Brooks started off writing very good children’s books though many parents might disapprove of their realistic grittiness .
Dance of Ghosts is his first adult book .
I wont listen to another as I find Brooks grimy underworld , albeit very real , quite depressing.
The narration was satisfactory though the female voices came over odd at times reminding me of the gormless Granddad out of Only Fools and Horses.
4/5 .
If you like heavy , criminal violence you would probably give it 5/5 .
Gritty and Violent
