I loved this reading of A Christmas Carol. Miriam Margoyles' excellent portrayal of all the characters brings the story to life.

An excellent listen during December.

A classic tale

Miriam Margolyes, a student of Dickens, brings flawless narration to the Christmas classic tale of how automatic thinking can become conscious living through the medium of a guilty conscience.

An old favourite tale of redemption

I always like to refresh my hope for mankind at this time of year...and live in the hope that maybe some of those who run the UK might be visited by any spirits that may be available and capable of reaching hearts and minds and be able to change them for the better. Miriam Margoyles is always superb ! Her character voices are convincing and her understanding of the writer's intention is without question.

Performance..superb!

Going to go against the grain and say performance wise, I found some of the narration a little bit grating at times; especially when Margoyles portrayed Scrooge being particularly irritated. Bit too shouty for me. Story wise, who can downvote the best Christmas morality tale ever written?

Classic Christmas tale by the master storyteller, Dickens.

I love this story and have watched numerous adaptations. Miriam Margolyes reads it so well you can picture all the scenes as you go along.

Excellent story, brilliantly read

I love the rich language and the atmospheric settings- Dicken wasa master storyteller IMO.

However the skill & enthusiasm Miriam lends to the telling is invaluable. All the voices are just right and she sets the mood with her gusto, humour, despair or trepidation- whatever is required. I listen to this every December & recommend it to all my friends.

My regular Christmas mood setter!
