I Love Them!
Nothing As It Seems
This would have been given a full star rating had it been longer. That's the only issue I have with the entire book. It was a really amazing read and I'm glad that I had the opportunity to read it. The longer thing is a personal preference in all honesty. I'm sure there are many readers that absolutely loved the length of the book. There are some heavier topics addressed that I felt could have been leaned on a little more as well. I still recommend it.
Hiding in Plain Sight
This was a really interesting sequel. It seemed to almost follow along past the first one. Like you're just continuing about the person's life after the first story was over with. It's really interesting to me. I also love the fact that this was more personal to Billie Jo. It kind of helps you get to know her a little better. It helps you connect better with her and understand her and her personality a little better. I also like that we get to know Mike a little better in this book as well.
The Cold Case
This was a very emotionally intense book. It's about a cold case involving a little girl that went missing. Her father was convicted for her murder. The body was never found. Everybody but Mike and Billy Jo wants to let the case go and not open up old wounds so to speak. I just wish it was longer!

Billy Jo and Mark!
Nothing As It Seems - Billy Jo has experienced firsthand the problems with the foster care system which is why she became a social worker so when Shay, a foster child at a camp, goes missing she is determined to see that she is found. Mark is a detective who finds himself reluctantly working with Billy Jo as they realize the case is a lot more complex than they expected.
Hiding In Plain Sight - Billy Jo came to the island not only for her career but to get the answers that she so desperately needs from her birth mother and isn’t about to be deterred. When her search
draws the ire of some powerful people and he is torn between doing what he believes is right and what he has been ordered to do especially when she finds herself in danger.
Cold Case – When Mark is ordered to clear some space by relocating some cold cases the case of a child that is presumed deceased for which her father is serving jail time catches his interest. When he brings Billy Jo into the mix it seems with every question, they answer more questions are raised and the result ill surprise them all.
The characters are strong, independent and both determined to do the right thing despite the consequences. I listened to an audible copy of the story and enjoyed the performance of the narrator both with the characters he portrayed and getting the intrigue part of the story across. 🎧 Audiobook Obsession

Impossible listen
Narration is so stilted it’s impossible to get any sense of story. A waste of a credit unfortunately.
