About this listen
After Die Hard blew the doors off movie theaters, there was no doubt that Bruce Willis's one-man-army of a cop would hit the big screen again even harder. And Die Hard 2 made it happen doubling down on the explosive action. And just like the original blockbuster, the sensational sequel leaped from the pages of a suspense master's pulse-pounding novel.
A massive blizzard has shut down nearly every East Coast airport, stranding travelers on the ground and in the air. But those circling the skies above New York's Kennedy Airport have far more to worry about than missed connections. When the control tower's radar suddenly goes dark, a mysterious caller known only as Number One announces that the countdown to terror has begun. Nineteen planes and their helpless passengers are now airborne hostages in the ruthless hands of a dangerous man on a deadly mission. And if the US government doesn't bow to his demands, hell will rain from above as one jetliner after another exhausts its fuel and plunges to earth. With only 58 minutes between life and death, there may be nothing anyone can do except one New York City cop with nerves of steel, attitude to burn, and a reputation for being tough on crime and even harder to kill.

A leap back into innocent mid 80s America
87', where America was innocent, proudly multicultural, mass shooting free and the binary good guys.

Its not Die hard 2.
Would you listen to 58 Minutes again? Why?
I would listen to it again but i am not in any rush to.
What was one of the most memorable moments of 58 Minutes?
I didn't really have one. Loving the Die hard films i thought it would be really cool to listen to the story that it was based on.
Have you listened to any of R. C. Bray’s other performances? How does this one compare?
I didn't even realize it was the same guy who read mountain man. I had to look in my library to find out which other book he read. I thought he was great in the other books. Maybe it was just the story.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
I did listen to it in multiple goes but i only put it on while i was at work.
Any additional comments?
To say this spawned Die hard 2 i was shocked how dull it felt. I was able to listen to it but it was just very wishy washy action and a lot of "just so happens" and "why isn't that a coincident?" moments. Never really felt the action of any sense of real peril for anyone. The bad guy was meant to be a all out evil genius but i never really bought into it. very disappointed. Sorry guy.

I've seen Die Hard 2 so many times! It's one of my favourite movies, but I have to say, 58 Minutes is bloody brilliant! R C Bray's narration is absolutely top notch!

Great stuff!!
While the connection to Die Hard 2 is quite obvious, the actual story is very different. Its not quite as action packed or thrilling as the movie, but it's still a really good listen. It's one of those rare books I wanted to go back to and finish ASAP because I was enjoying it so much. The narrator has quite an intense voice, and can feel a bit robotic at first, but I learned to appreciate it quite fast. A really good listen!

Roller coaster
Wow what an exciting book…I can well understand why they used this plot as the basis for the second Die Hard film (and yes its a lot different than the film)
Brilliantly narrated by RC Bray
