أولى روايات الكاتب، صدرت في العام 1973، في دمشق، وأعاد الكاتب إنتاجها واصدرها في طبعة جديدة في العام 2004، في رام الله. تجري أحداث الروايّة بين عمّان وجرش في الشهور الواصلة بين العامين 1970 و 1971 ويتجسّد فيها ذلك الصراع الذي يدور في السجن بين الأسير ومحقّق المخابرات، الصراع الذي يجتهد كلّ واحد منهما أن يهزم الآخر، السجين بقدرته على احتمال الأذى ورفضه المغريات التي يعرضها المحقّق، وهذا المحقّق بما يتوفر له من سلطة لإيذاء سجينه وما يتوفر لدولته من مغريات لتدفع السجين إلى الرضوخ لمشيئتها. إنه الصراع الذي لا بدّ من أن ينتصر فيه واحد من هذين الإثنين.
