Summary
When aspirations and passion collide, Breck’s thrown onto a playing field he never anticipated.
Unrivaled in college basketball as a point-guard prodigy, Breck Harland has definitely earned his title as King of the Court. All around town, he’s a bona fide celebrity, his reputation with the ladies reinforcing a facade he's determined to protect. No one, not even his best friend, knows he's bi.
Enter Grandmaster Kai Nakado, the one person not impressed by Breck's imperial air.
When Breck signs up for his martial arts class, Kai makes it clear he finds his new student arrogant, impulsive, unfocused. With each exchange, their clashing chemistry intensifies, and Breck finds himself not just angry and frustrated…but inexplicably turned on. A fire that rages even hotter when Kai introduces him to the art of rope bondage, a talent Kai proves even more skilled at than martial arts.
At the hands of this experienced Dom, Breck's tenuous control threatens to slip from his grasp, the things he thought he wanted suddenly not so clear. If he’s not careful, Kai will completely derail him, a risk he can’t afford if he plans to make it to the pros.
Can he stop what’s already in motion, or will Kai tame the unattainable king?
Tamed, book one in the Courtside King Duology. A steamy, slow-burn, gay romance that will keep you riveted on the sidelines for more.

Holy shibari, Breckman, such smouldering goodness!
Ladies’ man Breck Harland is a star college basketball player with the nickname, ‘King of the Court’, and has the ego to match. When a friend invites him to his martial arts class, Breck encounters Grandmaster Kai Nakado and there’s instant friction when Breck finds his ego bruised, but also a frisson of attraction. This enemies-to-lovers romance is classic Kora Knight smouldering hotness and being the first in the duology, this book mainly covers the ‘enemies’ part. The slow-burn story mostly shadows Breck as he wrestles with his love-hate feelings for Kai and the implications for his future career and current reputation. It culminates in a total masterpiece of a scene where Kai practices shibari with Breck as the model. Michael Dean, that prince of narration, gives another great performance, channeling the hot-headed Breck, the cool and calm Kai, and the smoking sexual tension. Can’t wait for the confusion!

Best in Series
I personally think this was the best pairing in the series.
Hearing MD narrate brings the story to life. He uses distinct character voices so it is very easy to follow the story. Each voice was pleasant and suited the characters. Michael expressed all the emotions wonderfully and made it a very pleasant listening experience. I just love his reading voice. Total swoon.

Amazing!
I've been listening to both the Upending Tad series and more recently The Dungeon Black Duology. So I was very pleased to learn that there is a spin-off story about Breck and Kai.
You can read or listen to Tamed just fine as a standalone, but I think you're missing out if you do. I loved seeing little scenes from the previous books from a different angle here.
Kora Knight has an incredibly engaging and wonderful writing style. Once I started listening to the audiobook, I had a very hard time putting it down.
Breck is a basketball star who is in the spotlight and who can date any woman. But Breck has secrets that should never be allowed to get out to the public. When he attends a martial arts class, he meets the confident grandmaster Kai, who is completely unimpressed by Breck. The air between the two is tense from the start. The more the two meet, the more complicated, but also multi-layered, their relationship becomes. The author has written a slow-burning story that is at the same time red-hot.
She has built up the characters in a multi-layered way and you get to know both Breck and Kai very well. The chemistry between the two is off the charts. But what happens when these two play with fire and want more of it?
Michael Dean delivered a phenomenal performance. He did an absolutely fantastic job of portraying both Breck and Kai with all their moods and emotions, bringing the audiobook to life. He read very vividly and he had a comfortable pace.
This book was entertaining, hot and makes you want more. And now I can't wait for the second volume of the Courtside King duology to be released as an audiobook. I want more of this!
